How did your early experiences shape your relationship with money?
This assessment is adapted from the CDC-Kaiser Adverse Childhood Experiences Study and expanded to include the financial, cultural, and ancestral dimensions of early adversity. It is not a diagnostic tool. It is a mirror. Before reading each question, bring to mind your first 18 years of life.
If completing this assessment brings up significant distress, please reach out to a qualified mental health professional.
I am an integrative physician, dharma teacher, and the author of 24+ books on resilience, identity, and conscious evolution. I have spent 25 years working with people recovering from trauma, addiction, eating disorders, and the particular kind of suffering that comes from not knowing why you keep hitting the same walls.
The ACE Financial Adaptation Index grew out of that clinical work. The original CDC-Kaiser ACE Study changed how medicine understands the relationship between childhood adversity and adult health outcomes. I expanded it to include the financial, cultural, and ancestral dimensions that the original study did not capture — because in my practice, those dimensions were often where the most significant financial imprinting lived.
This quiz is not therapy. It is a clinical mirror. And sometimes a precise mirror is the first thing that actually helps.
